The RTL8201FR-VB-CG is a single-chip/single-port 10/100Mbps Ethernet PHYceiver that supports RMII (Reduced Media Independent Interface).
The RTL8201FR-VB-CG implements all 10/100M Ethernet Physical-layer functions including the Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS), Physical Medium Attachment (PMA), Twisted Pair Physical Medium Dependent Sublayer (TP-PMD), 10Base-TX Encoder/Decoder, and Twisted-Pair Media Access Unit (TPMAU). The RTL8201FR-VB-CG also supports auto MDIX.
A PECL (Pseudo Emitter Coupled Logic) interface is supported to connect with an external 100Base-FX fiber optical transceiver. The chip utilizes an advanced CMOS process to meet low voltage and low power requirements. With on-chip DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, the chip provides excellent performance under all operating conditions.
The Realtek RTL8201G(I)-VB-CG (hereafter referred to as the RTL8201G(I)-VB-CG is a highly integrated Ethernet transceiver that is compatible with 10Base-T, and100Base-TX IEEE 802.3 standards. It provides all the necessary physical layer functions to transmit and receive Ethernet packets over CAT.5 UTP cable.
The RTL8201G(I)-VB-CG uses state-of-the-art DSP technology and an Analog Front End (AFE) to enable long-distance data transmission and reception over UTP cable with proprietary LD100 mode. For long-distance application over one-paired UTP cable or coaxial cable, 100BASE-T1 and another proprietary mode LD10 are implemented in the RTL8201G(I)-VB-CG to provide robust transmission and reception.
